About Me

Peter Dawe is a Cambridge phenomenon. Over the 45years he has lived in and around Cambridge he has made a massive impact on Cambridge, the country and humanity.

He has founded over 100 projects, of which 50 are still operating in some form and 50 Peter defines as a success.

Peter was the father of Internet as we know it. Taking an academic network and transforming it into a global phenomenon.

Through Resonance he has transformed the not-for-Profit sector, creating a multi-billion Impact investment sector.

He promoted Northstowe, the first new town in 2 years, in the face of opposition from planners and politicans.

Peter has built a unique set of tools which enable him to achieve the near impossible, in almost any sector and at any scale. One of these tools is the ability to accept set-backs, to pause, regroup and use the set-back as a learning experience for the next attempt or project.

Peter loves his extended family and enjoys classical music, especially when performed live.

SuperHero of the Internet

Before my company PIPEX implemented our network, BT’s data network was X.25, costing £10000 per month for a permanent connection and £1000 per month for a Dial-up service ( at 1200 bits per second) and it only connected you to BTs other customers.

PIPEX launched the first commercial Internet service in Europe in 1994. A Dial-up connection was just £15 per month for a 9600 bps service and £1000 per month for a permanent connection. And key it connected to every other IP network world-wide. The rest as-they-say is history! PIPEX became the largest multinational Internet provider in the world.

LINX was also founded by Peter. It was key to the rapid development of the Internet. LINX enabled new Internet providers to interconnect quickly, cheaply and without needing contracts with every other IPS. The LINX model was used world-wide to ensure the Internet was never “captured” by a single giant corporation.

Internet Watch was also founded by Peter. It has been vital in mitigating the abuse of the Internet. It’s importance lead to Peter being awarded an OBE for services to the communications Industry

Flute also founded by Peter Dawe. Flute laid fibre optic cable across the North Sea, in order to by-pass the national telecom corporate monopoly on international connectivity. The price of European telecom dropped to ONE TENTH within 3 months of Flute lighting its fibre. i.e a £10 call suddenly cost £1 !!!

Why does a SuperHero support the Brexit Party?

Changing politics for Good

As an innovator and pioneer I have found that making Cambridge, and the world, a better place has to be done in the face of opposition from politicians. Engineers will tell you that Governors and Regulators are there to maintain the status quo. This is true in policy too!

Our current politicians at local, national and EU level are the enemy of improvement, especially when it is revolutionary, rather than evolutionary. As the levers of power get further away from the electorate, so the policies taken are ever less in the interests of the electorate. The people in EU institutions are out of control, serving themselves, and big corporate interests, rather than the people.

The world, the UK and Cambridge face existential challenges, that our current politicians refuse to even acknowledge, let alone formulate and execute policies that secure our future. Only SuperHeros will secure our future, and they need the power to by-pass the incumbent politicians who will try to block the things that need to be done.

The Brexit Party, is not just about changing EU politics, it is about Changing politics for good at all levels.
